Gender Diversity in Ringette - parent webinar
hosted by Ringette Canada July 7th from 7-9pm EDT

Pre-registration is required by 3:00pm EDT July 6th. Pre-registration can be found at the link below:
The link to the session will be emailed to you on the day of the session.

Ringette Canada recently updated its Transgender Inclusion Policy to allow trans athletes to play on a team that corresponds with either their gender identity or their sex assigned at birth. The changes also make options more explicit for non-binary players who can participate on a team of their choice (male, female or mixed).

For many, transgender issues in sport are new territory. Concepts related to gender diversity may feel overwhelming or confusing. Ringette Canada is committed to providing education and resources to support the understanding and practical application of this updated policy.

Session 2 wrap up
November 21 was the last day of session 2.  It was strange with only 10 participants on the ice, and the rink seemed very empty.  Even though there were several restrictions that made it difficult to create a challenging and engaging practice plan, from all accounts, the players (and coaches) had a blast!
As you are aware, Peel will move to lockdown status on Monday November 23 for at least 28 days.  The city of Mississauga has confirmed that all arenas will be closed during this time.  As a result, Mississauga Ringette will not be hosting any in-person events for the duration of the lockdown.  We will continue to monitor the situation, and hope to be able to return to the ice in January.
During the break, please remember that registered participants (players and coaches) are not permitted to self-schedule or attend any ringette activities without the knowledge and permission of a body authorized by Ringette Ontario to conduct sanctioned ringette activities.   Players and coaches are also only permitted to participate in events organized and authorized by the ringette association with which they registered for the 2020-21 season.  Ringette Ontario will impose sanctions on any persons who participate in unsanctioned events.

We will keep you posted on any future developments.  Until then, take care and stay safe!

Ringette Ontario 2020-21 Season Update

Ringette Ontario recently posted the following update on the 2020 - 21 season:

To provide guidance and a clear path for our members who are working to prepare for the coming Ringette season, the Board of Directors of Ringette Ontario, after consultation with the Executive Director, is making the following announcements:

  • All Ringette group activity in Ontario is suspended until September 1, 2020.

In addition, Ringette Ontario will be hosting a virtual Town Hall this Thursday (June 11th) at 6:00 pm on Facebook Live, to answer questions about the upcoming season.

Ringette Ontario Health & Safety Cancellations: Coronavirus

Ringette Ontario has released a Notice to Membership outlining that ALL Ringette Ontario sanctioned activities and events are suspended effective immediately.  This includes all current and upcoming tournaments (AA Provincials, A Provincials, U12 Provincials,  SRRA Regionals, and OAIC), remaining league games (Provincial A, U12P and Regional SRRA) and Mississauga Ringette U10/12 House League games.  As outlined in the RO Notice:

  • Effective immediately, as per Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health recommendation to suspend all public gatherings over 250 people. This means all Ringette Ontario activities, AA, A and U12 provincials, all regional tournaments including OAIC and league games have been suspended until further notice.

Ringette Ontario will continue to monitor this fluid and ever changing situation. Membership updates will be provided regularly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

Please note that Ringette Ontario has decided to postpone all 2020 Season Tryouts and Sort-Outs until at least August 1st.  This could be subject to change.  We will provide additional details and dates as they become available.

All Southern Region players intending to try out for any A or AA Provincial level team are required to complete the online Intent-to-Tryout Form no later than April 5, 2020.

The Player Intent Form is found at the SRRA website at the following link:

Click Here for SRRA Player Intent Form

• Players will not be allowed to participate in any tryout session without having completed the online form. Any player intents submitted after April 5, 2020 will only be accepted via an email to Fernanda Serroul [[email protected]] from the respective Association President.

• Players from outside of Southern Region who move into our region due to relocation for post- secondary education or other legitimate reasons should register their intent as soon as they make the commitment to move, rather than waiting to physically arrive in the Region. For instance, a player moving into the Region to attend university (i.e. Brock, Toronto) should indicate their intent to play at the A or AA level as soon as they accept their offer of admission, allowing our member associations to include these players in their planning process.

Please note that Ringette Ontario has decided to postpone all 2020 Season Tryouts and Sort-Outs until at least August 1st.  This could be subject to change.  We will provide additional details and dates as they become available.
