Southern Region will be following a new tryout process for Provincial teams (A/AA/U12P) the 2019-20 season.  Mississauga Ringette, as a member of Southern Region, will be adhering to this new process.  The overall purpose of the process is to enhance the player tracking process and help facilitate the number and distribution of teams throughout the Region, as well as ensure timely declaration and formation of viable provincial teams.  The basic steps in the process are as follows:

1. Association “Declaration” that they are willing to host specific teams (forms completed and submitted by the Association to SRRA).  In order to declare this, the association must meet the minimum requirements for home and current association players, as established by Southern Region for the relevant levels and age divisions.  The SRRA Evaluation Committee may review the “declaration” and if the minimum requirements are not deemed to be met they may not be able to host the team(s) in question.

At the present time, Mississauga Ringette will be scheduling and hosting tryouts with the intent of forming the following Provincial Teams:

U19AA, U19A, U16AA, U16A, U14AA, U14A, U12P
Note: All teams are subject to SRRA Evaluation Committee approval

2. Complete player “Intent” form (only for Provincial Tryouts).  All players who intend to try out for any provincial teams must complete the Player Tryout Intent Form, by the SRRA deadline (currently proposed as April 7th). The form will be posted on the SRRA website shortly (e.g. it will likely  go “live” this week).  Players who have NOT completed the intent form will not be permitted to attend tryouts.  Late intent forms (e.g. after April 7th) can only be submitted to SRRA by the player’s home association presidentClick here to go to the online intent form.

3. Complete MRA Tryout Registration Form and submit payment (etransfer preferred).  All players wishing to attend MRA tryouts must pre-register by completing this form.  Click here to go to the MRA Tryout Registration Form.

4. Obtain signed Player Tryout Release forms for all out of association tryouts you intend to attend (e.g. one for each is needed).  The Association President (or a designate on MRA Exec) can sign.  Click here to access the Tryout Release Form.

Additional Notes on the Process

  • All “intent” information will be posted online on the SRRA website (e.g. it will be public).  This allows all associations to see the number of “at age” players who intend to try out for their age appropriate level.
  • Once the tryouts begin across the region, the sheet will show which players went to each tryout session held in ALL associations intending to host provincial teams in SRRA.  The spreadsheet will be updated within 24 hours of each tryout session in any/all associations, and will show if any players have been offered spots or have been released after each tryout.
  • If there is insufficient player attendance at a given team tryout session, either the Association or the SRRA Evaluation Committee can recommend that the team fold and the tryout process be discontinued, even if it has already begun.
  • Similar to previous years, U12 teams will have spring “sort outs” but based on LTAD requirements the teams will not be formed until the fall.  It is MRAs intent not to name a core U12P team in the spring.  All players will be named in the fall.
  • Similar to previous years, players must be “of age” to attend MRA tryouts (e.g. under age players will not be permitted to attend without a written exception from the Executive)
