About the U8 House League/Learn to Play (LTP) Program

This program is an extension of our LTS program for skaters 5-7 years old (DOB 2014 -2018), or for those with moderate skating experience. 

Skaters will use the skating skills learned in the LTS program, in addition to skills taught in Learn to Play, and begin playing ringette. 
The focus of this program is:

  • to learn the basics of playing ringette and ringette skills
  • to develop skating, motor skills and self-esteem
  • to introduce players to team work and team spirit

Age Requirements

Skaters must be born 2014-2018

- LTP – New Player, Wed 6pm - $400
- LTP - New Player, Sat 9:15am - $400
- LTP – Returning Player, Wed 6pm - $425
- LTP - Returning Player, Sat 9:15am - $425

Full Season Program

The full season Learn to Play program offers one 50-minute session per week, taught by a Certified Can Skate Instructor (approximately 21 sessions from late September to Mid-March), plus additional house league games and/or ringette skill development sessions, which begin in early November. Typically there will be one practice (at the same time as LTS) and one game/skill session per week.

Half Season Program
We also offer half season programs that run either
1) late September to mid-December or
2) early January to mid-March.

We offer two different weekly practice sessions to choose from (to be selected when registering):

                      Wednesdays at 6 PM at Meadowale Arena, OR
                      Saturdays at 9:15 AM at Iceland Arena.

Games/skill sessions are on Sunday mornings at 9:15AM at Iceland Arena. 

Practices begin in late September, while games begin in early November and end in March.  Games are played on full ice, are refereed with adult coach/helpers on the ice.  The focus is on FUN! Scores are not posted, and a
ll ORA rules are followed.  

Equipment Requirements

The following are required by the Mississauga Ringette Association.

All equipment is available from our EQUIPMENT RENTAL PROGRAM.


·         Skaters MUST wear hockey skates (no plastic/moulded skates permitted)

·         Skaters MUST wear a CSA approved helmet and ringette cage

·         BNQ approved neck protector, elbow pads, shin pads, shoulder pads, hockey gloves, Ringette girdle/pants or                  hockey pants

·         Ringette stick (appropriate height)
