Mississauga Ringette Association's AGM & Volunteer Appreciation Night

The Mississauga Ringette Association (MRA) invites all members to its annual AGM and Volunteer Appreciation event on Friday May 4th, 2018. The meeting will be held at Iceland Arena North Lounge starting at 7:30 PM. The MRA Executive will give a brief update of initiatives for the 2017-2018 season, share our Association Successes, introduce the 2018 Executive, and share a bit of what to expect for the 2018-2019 season. Snacks will be served for all and beverages will be available for purchase. 

We will also discuss some of the details of our surplus spending plan from successfully hosting the 2017 World Ringette Championships.  We are currently accepting proposals and ideas from MRA members on how best to utilize the surplus funds to expand and enhance the MRA in the following areas: 1. Player Recruitment - Expanded Program Marketing/Promotion (in MRA & GTHL), 2. Expanded Player/Program Development (in MRA & Southern Region), and 3. Beginner Program Subsidies (registration & equipment).  Additional details and criteria will be posted on the MRA website.

We also plan to share the winners of this year's MRA Volunteer Awards, and we encourage all of you to get your nominations in by Monday April 30th! All registered members of MRA are eligible to nominate potential nominees for Recognition Awards as described below. Registered members may not nominate their own family members and current members of the awards selection committee are not eligible. All nominations should include detailed information pertaining to the award and are due by April 30th 2018 to [email protected] . Nominees will be contacted by prior to the AGM. Award Categories are shown below. 

There is a maximum of 2 awards presented in any category. Maximum of 6 awards. An individual can be nominated for only one award per year. 

Community Builder Award: 
The nominee should have taken on a leadership role to increase awareness and support for Ringette in the community resulting in benefits to MRA and or the majority of players/coaches. The nominee: • has been a member for a least 2 years • Made an outstanding contribution to the MRA in one or more of the following areas: o Growth and Development of Ringette in the community o Outreach programs o Volunteer recruitment and development o Significant contributions in finances, goods and or services
Sport Development Award: 
The nominee should have taken a leadership role to increase the base knowledge of the game through either player and or coach and or parent education sessions/workshops etc. The benefits of results would be association with better educated members and successful performance of teams throughout the organization The nominee: • Has been a member for at least 2 years • Made an outstanding contribution to the MRA in one or more of the following areas: o Player development (groups of individual skill development or team development) o Coaching development (house league and or rep) o Parent education sessions
