Ringette as a SCHOOL project - for Grades 1 - 8
Submitted By Fred Ibrahimsha on Wednesday, September 11, 2013
For those of you in school or with school age kids, who are looking for a unique term project, why not choose RINGETTE!?    It's interesting, different, easy to demonstrate, with tons of information on the web, and it's a great opportunity to promote our sport.    A project for Show and Tell, Science, Math and even Canadian History!!

Hockey...better than Ringette?!?

"Hockey is way better than Ringette"!!  "You play Ringette on ice"??  "Ringette sucks"!

Upsetting words?  You bet!  Why?  Because Ringette is a lot better than hockey: faster, more fun, more skill, better skaters, more of a team game and no body checking.

It's tough to get the deserved respect when going up against the "hockey machine" but the battle can be won, for respect, for recognition and ultimately for the growth and bright future of our sport.  How?  One huge step is to teach your friends at school.

Every year you must complete one or more class projects.  Why not one on Ringette?!?  Well...why not??

Show AND tell your friends all about Ringette.

TELL them: why you love it, why it's better than hockey, why the rules make it fast, why it's so essential to play as a team, about the uniqueness, the strategy and the speed.  Even demonstrate how fast a ring can be shot vs. a hockey puck.  Most people are amazed at the speed!!

SHOW them: a ringette stick, a ring, "regular" skates and by inviting them to watch a game and then lend a friend a helmet and face mask and have them try Ringette.

You are the reason Ringette will grow.  You are the future of Ringette.
